DESCRIPTION:Fairhope\, Ala. — The Hope Farm will celebrate Cuba’s distinct culture\, cuisine and historic connections\nto Mobile with an event on May 22 featuring a curated Cuban dinner by Executive Chef Leo Velazquez.\nOn Friday\, May 22\, guests will be welcomed to the Barn at the Hope Farm with classic cocktails before\nenjoying a shared\, family-style meal and a traditional Cuban dessert course. Chef Velazquez has created a\nthoughtful menu for the evening\, highlighting the many bold and vibrant flavors of Cuban cuisine —\nfrom citrus-marinated meats and slow-roasted pork to sweet plantains and rich\, aromatic coffee.\nAs the official sister city organization between Mobile\, Alabama\, and Havana\, Cuba\, the Society Mobile–\nLa Habana is supporting the event as part of its ongoing mission to promote cultural and educational\nexchange between the two Gulf cities and their communities. Members of the Society’s leadership will be\nin attendance to share more about the organization’s work in Mobile and its efforts to strengthen local ties\nto Cuba through the arts\, culture\, travel and education.\nGuests will also hear from noted local historian John Sledge\, who will discuss themes from his latest\nbook\, Mobile and Havana: Sisters Across the Gulf.
