Dear Members, Former Members and Prospective Members,
Please renew your membership in the Society Mobile-La Habana for 2015-2016. Former members: we miss you! Prospective members: we invite you to join us. Dues are vital to the work of the Society as well as the Mobile-Havana sister city organization. Our mission: “To work with citizens and officials in Havana, Cuba, to promote better understanding of each other’s cultures; to share in solving mutual problems, especially in the fields of health, education, and the arts, and to promote good relations between all the people of Havana and Mobile.” We cannot fulfill our mission without your contributions. Over the past years, the Society has:
- Enhanced the collection of Cuba-related materials at the Mobile Public Library with a donation of $1,600 in honor of Mike Dow
- Made another similar donation to the library in memory of the late member Rev. William Fountaine.
- Educated thousands of students about Cuban culture and traditions through a beautiful, interactive booth at the Mobile International Festival
- Hosted a Center for International Policy conference on combating hurricanes.
- Hosted Ron Sparks, Alabama Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries, at our annual meeting to speak about Alabama-Cuba trade.
- Hosted Win Hallett, president, Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce, at our annual meeting to speak about a trip to Cuba by a chamber delegation.
The Society Mobile-La Habana is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Dues are tax-deductible.
