Strengthening Relations: Represetatives of MLHS meet with Ambassador Torres
On October 23, 2025, representatives of the Mobile–La Havana Society, including President Stephen McNair and Grey Redditt, met with Cuban Ambassador Lianys Torres and Second Secretary Gabriela Gonzalez in Washington, D.C. The meeting strengthened ongoing dialogue and collaboration, reaffirming the Society’s commitment to maintaining strong relations and fostering new cultural and educational projects.

MLHS at Las Floriditas soft opening
Las Floriditas is a new casual yet upscale Cuban style bar located in the RSA trustmark building downtown Mobile. It has a decidedly Caribbean, speakeasy feel with a piano bar and the old bank vault converted into a lounge area. We were secretly invited to a preview visit but they will be open to the public next week. Follow them on social media to get the daily password and with it access. Despite the rising popularity and influence of the Society, in the 1990s, the administrative shift in 2004 curtailed people-to-people visits and exchange, which drastically limited the Society’s power in creating personal connections.
